Mesmerizing Eyes

Mesmerizing Eyes

The Kgalagadi is one of the best places in Africa to see the fastest land animal – the cheetah. They are my favourite animals but I rarely get to see them in the wild, let alone take a half decent photos of them. On one particular late morning in July 2013 we saw a family of 4 feasting on a springbok, too far away for a photo. Luckily after a while they decided they had eaten enough and started heading towards some shade. I snapped this frame as they were crossing the road just in front of our car, just when one of them briefly lifted its head and looked straight at us. It is not easy to get a photo of a cheetah showcasing its beautiful amber eyes as their brows protrude a bit casting a shadow over their eyes. So I am pretty happy with this resulting photo.
