Curious Cape Fox

Curious Cape Fox

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is the first park in Africa which I have visited more than once.  I cannot really put into words why this place is so special. Perhaps it’s because there is such surprising amount and diversity of life in such a hostile environment. Perhaps it’s beacause it’s so mysterious and you really have to work hard to unveil its secrets. Perhaps it’s the atmosphere – quiet, relatively isolated, magical. Or perhaps I am simply not good with words.

The Cape Fox is most probably the cutest inhabitant of the Kgalagadi.  I could barely contain my squeaks of delight when we came across two of them on our way from Kalahari Tented Camp to Nossob, near Urikaruus. We had been trying hard to spot one for days with only partial success. We probably spent about an hour or so with this couple, they are so endearing.  Just look at those ears & huge bushy tail!
