Say No to Ivory!

Say No to Ivory!

I enjoy spending time with elephants. Unlike most other animals habituated to humans in their cars elephants are always keeping an eye on you and letting you know in no uncertain terms if you overstep the boundaries they are comfortable with. I feel privileged whenever elephants feel they can trust me in their vicinity. But at the same time I cannot help but also feel so ashamed of humankind who has no qualms in shooting them dead for their ivory or buying ivory just because it is some sort of sick status symbol. I would hate to think about a time in the future where elephants would only be seen in zoos and books. Make no mistake, that unthinkable scenario might very well happen – and sooner rather than later.
