Crowned Lemur

Crowned Lemur

Recently I read somewhere that if you can’t write 1000 words about an image then it’s not worth taking. I don’t agree with this statement. I love photos that tell a story, or technically marvellous images, but I also like the classic and simple animal portraits – the more intimate the better. I always take photos of things I want to remember and how I want to remember them. In this case the cute face and the beautiful eyes of this Crowned Lemur caught my attention.  I also knew I could get very nice bokeh out of the Canon 100 2.8 Macro lens to help make my subject pop.  Lemurs might be primates but their faces are very different from other primates, especially their longer snouts with the nose looking more like a dog’s and their cat-like whiskers.  These features are best showcased with a closeup portrait.  So there, not even close to 1000 words – I’ll let you be the judge of whether I should have taken this photo or not!
