Suspicious Cheetah

Suspicious Cheetah

We came across this cheetah male at the Losholoago Pan in Mabuasehube, Botswana on our last full day of our trip in the Kalahari in 2013. It seems this male is often seen hanging out in the area and we specifically went looking for it.  When we caught up with it it was strolling around occasionally eyeing us suspiciously through the long grass.  Suddenly, we still don’t know why exactly, it started to look a bit agitated.  So much so that it was uncomfortable crossing the road with us near it so we backed off to give it some space.  It eventually crossed and climbed up a tree giving out plaintive cries.  It is important to respect the wildlife and know when to back off, even if it means missing photo opportunities. Too many people and most appalingly also some guides harass the animals to get nice photos.  I do not want to partake in such dubious ethics.
