Fosa Portrait

Fosa Portrait

On our last day in Kirindy we were really hoping to get a daylight glimpse of the Fosa.  So far we had only seen them at night.  When we were packing and ready to leave our guide came shouting “Fosa! Fosa!!”  I grabbed my camera & never ran faster in my life! The large male was patrolling the camp for scraps, especially around the kitchen area, it was obviously a regular visitor.  At some point it stopped to drink from a water tank and this is when I grabbed this photo.  I wanted to showcase those amazing golden eyes.  The water tank was quite close to the chicken coop and they were causing one hell of a terrified racket!  I think they have had close calls with this mighty predator before.
