Morning Grooming

In the wild one can never anticipate what is going to be seen, and most of the time wildlife sightings have to be admired from afar, especially in National Parks where offroad driving is not allowed. But every now and then we are lucky enough to stumble upon some close and intimate sightings – and have them all to ourselves with no other car in sight, such as in this case. We were so close that the 300mm lens I had in my hand was way too long – a complaint which I very rarely have! Despite the fact that we we rudely barged into their space (without wanting to – they literally weren’t visible till we saw them 2m away from the side of the car) these cubs were going about their business as if we weren’t there – but at the same time they were very curious about us, looking at us often. For me that means lots of eye-contact shots which is exactly what I want to make my images more intimate.
