Ring-Tailed Lemur

Ring-Tailed Lemur

The Ring-Tailed Lemur is practically the emblem of Madagascar and is one of the most well known animals from the island.  In case you were wondering, yes it is the “King Julian” character from the Madagascar Movie.  Did you know they use their long, luscious tails as weapons?  When rivals are fighting for dominance they engage in a stink war.  Ring-tailed lemurs have glands on their wrists which secrete a pungent smell.   They run their tails through their wrists a few times and voila, they charge their enemy menacingly waving their tails to waft the offensive smell in their direction.
