Lurking Danger

I don’t do it as often as I should but I do like photos of animals in their environment.  Especially when I can be a bit artsy – like making use of out of focus vegetation, natural frames etc.  The Kalahari is perfect for this purpose, especially in the early morning and late evenings.  This photo was taken in Mabuasehube in Botswana on a cold early morning in August 2013.  This young male was walking purposefully towards the rest of the pride when he paused for a moment to look at us.  The side lighting was wonderful and I was very taken by how well he blends into the overall dry season colour scheme.
