Fig the Leopard on a Mission

Fig the Leopard on a Mission

On my latest trip to the Mara I really wanted to get some good photos of leopards. While I do come across them every now and then the photographic conditions are usually bad. The sightings I was having on my latest trip in the Mara in June 2014 seemed to be following this usual trend until finally the leopard we had been patiently following, Fig, decided to stir from her slumber in some thick bushes. The light was good but the first thing that she did was to cross the river nearby. Bad news for us as we had a detour of about 5 minutes or so to get to her on the other side. A lot can happen in 5 minutes! Anyway, we decided to take the risk and we pursued her. Luckily she was still hanging around – and willing to pose for us out in the open. Jackpot!

I do enjoy each and every sighting, even when it’s not that good for photography. But when I can get some photos I am happy with I am absolutely thrilled!
