Pondering Leopard

Pondering Leopard

Our latest trip was pretty dry as regards big cat photographic opportunities but almost at the end of our one month’s journey our patience and perseverance were rewarded by this sighting of a gorgeous leopard casually hanging around in a tree in Chobe, Botswana. I have quite a few photos of it, and this one just cried out for a monochrome conversion – perhaps due to its pondering expression. We found this beauty for three days in a row hanging around the same 2km stretch, but this was the only “photogenic” sighting we had of it. The rest of the time it was stubbornly staying in thick branches or bush making it impossible to get more good photos of it – typical, but hey that’s wildlife! This is the first time ever I have had more sightings of leopard than lion in a park – not that I’m complaining or anything :)

This leopard shot is quite stunning – love the crisp focus and dramatic black and white, beautifully composed. Really love this!
