One of the highlights of our last trip to Hwange, Zimbabwe was watching elephants frolicking about at the waterholes. The best spot within the national park to do this is at Ngweshla. In the afternoon we were treated to the sight of a vast amount of elephants slowly making their way to the waterholes. That in itself was certainly a sight to behold. When they start closing in on the waterholes, the mere sight of water seems to fill the elephants with happiness and some of them go almost crazy with joy – running, trumpeting, rolling and splashing around. The young ones especially seem to be unable to contain their excitement. Here I caught a funny moment when one of the young elephants sucked a trunkful of water and showered it all over its friend.
