Alone

There is always so much to see in the African bush, not only the big 5. While I was in the Masai Mara  I was intrigued by the Topi –  I would see them standing like a statue on the anthills seemingly surveying the scenery. Some of them might be advertising that this is their territory, others might simply be keeping an eye out for predators.  Sometimes an anthill is only occupied by one topi, sometimes by many. Whatever the circumstance, it must suck to be out there without cover in the middle of the day under a blazing sun though! Topi need fresh vegetation to survive so in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem they migrate along with the wildebeest, zebras and gazelles.
