Back from Kenya

Back from Kenya

I am back from a fabulous trip to Kenya where I visited Samburu for the very first time as well as my beloved Masai Mara. I will start off by sharing a photo of Pretty Girl – a very apt name for this gorgeous leopard. It is always such a thrill to see a leopard in the wild! Our fabulous guides at Porini Lion spotted this one just outside of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy earlier this week. She had two little cubs with her – my first sighting ever of leopard cubs. However the cubs were extremely shy and skittish and not as willing as their mother to pose for photographs. Even at such an early age they are masters of hiding!

Porini Lion in the Olare Motorogi Conservancy in the Masai Mara has become my favourite photographic destination. It’s my third time visiting in 3 years and each time they still manage to blow my mind. I know some people are having doubts about visiting Kenya but they really should set their worries aside and just go for it – the wildlife viewing is amongst the best in the world, amongst the many other attractions. Conservation efforts in the country are dependent on tourism and so are many people’s livelihoods. The vast majority of tourism destinations, especially the national parks and conservancies are perfectly safe to visit.

Tech Specs: Canon 5D Mark III | Canon 200-400 f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4X @560mm | f5.6 | 1/160 | ISO10000
PS – Yes the ISO is indeed a whopping 10000! It was very dark when I took this photo but the 5D Mark III performed really beautifully.
