In June I spent some time with Amani and her youngster in the Masai Mara, Kenya. I was amused at how seriously the young one took her sentry duties, always on the lookout, having her mother’s back at all times. She had good reason to be wary – they were in an area with a very high lion density. We had just seen one of the local prides just a couple of kilometres away. The dynamic duo had just woken up from their daytime snooze as the sun was setting. I took this photo past sunset on an overcast day, I quite like the effect of the blue hour in an environment with green grass.
